Pohorje plateau, the pride and joy of the Styria region and its capital Maribor, is a natural wonderland, in winter transforemed into a buzzing ski resort, one of the largest and most attractive in Slovenia. This year, at the Pohorje mountain’s feet, visitors to Maribor can enjoy in an additional winter fun – in ice-skating. Right at the foot of the snow stadium where the globally renowned ski competition Golden Fox FIS Ski World Cup for Women takes place, an ice rink is set.
An ice surface of 200 m2 is placed around the fountain with addtitional 100 m2 of skating tracks. As the rink will be covered, it is not opened only during this beautiful December time, but all the way to 20 February 2020. The rink in Maribor is opened every day between 10 o’clock in the morning and 9 o’clock in the evening.
The 300m2 of ice surface in Maribor makes a perfect sport for interesting and diverse programmes. The opening was combined with the arrival of Grandpa Frost. While the day to day programmes are accompanied by rich culinary offer as well as individual fun programmes like DISCO skating at the sounds of disco music with a DH, ice bowling, diverse ice games, and artistic ice skating with a guide.
To bring the fun for the visitors and locals to Maribor even further, there will be Christmas parties for institutions and companies provided, as well as a New Year’s Eve party right on the ice. In more than two months of the operation, the magical ice rink under the beautiful mountain of Pohorje will provide for about 700 hours of interesting programmes. Any congress or business guest to Maribor can find something for themselves while on a meeting in this congress town.
