“Moving GIAF to a digital event, we bring the discussions online and allow our renowned speakers to share their knowledge.”

The COVID-19 pandemic remains highly active and unpredictable. 2020 has brought a lot of uncertainty to our sector due to exceptional events; the Geneva International Associations Forum (GIAF) team does not wish to add to this uncertainty by postponing the much-anticipated event indefinitely leaving attendees wondering. Besides, we feel that the benefits from all the hard work already done by our speakers and partners should be reaped as soon as possible.

Kai Troll

Spokesperson of GIAF

Kai Troll, the spokesperson of GIAF and President of ASSOCIATIONWORLD, says: “We strongly believe in the power of hybrid events and tried hard to make the live event work this year, especially since GIAF addresses the Geneva- and Swiss-based international and European associations and federations. We were enthusiastic about creating a good practice case in-person/hybrid event until the end. However, the Covid19 situation doesn’t allow us to do so this year.”

“Moving GIAF to a digital event, we bring the discussions online and allow our renowned speakers to share their knowledge. Event design of this digital edition will build an association community over the next months that will create a positive impact on GIAF 2021, of which date will be announced soon. Keeping our promise, everyone will be fully reimbursed of their registration fees. I want to thank everyone who registered for GIAF this year and we can’t wait to see everyone back at GIAF 2021 and/ or online in a few weeks,” comments Kai Troll.

Even if GIAF cannot be launched as a hybrid event this year, it is evident that there is a need, now, more than ever for people to connect and exchange ideas and to offer help to each other. The GIAF team invites associations to kick off a conversation amongst industry peers and already build a GIAF community through a series of digital sessions instead.

Over the coming months, GIAF will be interviewing the current speakers and releasing a series of exclusive sessions for the association and related association industry community to view, learn from, engage with, and ask questions, all based on the planned agenda for the upcoming GIAF. GIAF will periodically bring the community together with live and interactive sessions directly with the experts. The GIAF team and supporting partners are excited despite the challenges of 2020 to build a GIAF community with associations, federations, non-profits and societies and industry partners, which we look forward to seeing face-to-face in 2021!
