“Green practices and sustainability measures are a must-have”

Q: What do you desire the most at the moment?

At the moment I really want to stay healthy, have a positive mind and focus on good things. My biggest concern is my kids. I want them to make the best out of this crisis, and make sure this does not have too much of an effect on them in the future.

Q: Why do you love organising events?

Organising events is so fun. For me, the best thing I get is the feeling from happy visitors, and in the end, I feel so satisfied with doing something beautiful and special for someone. It’s like food for my soul.

Q: Can you present the tool or app you use the most during the corona crisis?

I use Zoom and Teams the most. Zoom for my job, while Teams for school. In the morning, I am a teacher of the 3rd and 5th grade, whereas in the afternoon I do my work. It’s a big challenge, but we have managed it so far.

Q: How would you explain to a client why organising events is essential?

Organising events is essential because it can give you the power to build upon your organisation’s reputation, promote its aims and key messages and bring people together for a common purpose.

Q: Is it easier to organise digital or live events?

I have to say, before this COVID-19 crisis, I was absolutely sure organising live events was much more difficult. Now, when I see how things are going online, I think that organising live events is easier. But that is a thing we could discuss 24/7.

Q: Is organising digital events cheaper than organising classic events?

This is also the thought that occurred to me before the crisis when I was sure that digital events were much cheaper. Now, however, I think that classic event formats are cheaper, but a lot depends on the nature of the event.

“The virtual world will grow, but people will crave for personal experiences”

Q: If the future of the meetings industry will be green, where do we start?

Green practices and sustainability measures are a must-have for some organisations based on their values and policies. In the end, everyone needs to think about leaving the planet in a better place than it is today. So asking about this is a great start.

Q: What will be the key trait of a great event organiser after the corona crisis?

Virtual events are here to stay. They need to offer a ton of information, strong marketing skills and business practices, a great crisis management plan and a backup plan. Moreover, they require flexibility, creativity and skills to successfully analyse everything. If I look at myself, I would say that maybe nowadays, above everything else, patience and empathy are needed.

Q: What is your view on the future? Where is the meetings industry headed?

My personal opinion is that the virtual world will not totally replace live experiences. The virtual environment will grow, mobiles and wireless technology will change our lives, but I really think that people will crave for personal experiences.

Q: What is the most surprising fact about organising events?

I was so surprised when I heard that more people own a mobile device than a toothbrush. Given that, we need to provide a winning app for the event we’re organising?.
