Hilton today announced the signing of a management agreement to open Hilton Tirana – a brand-new 174 room property in the heart of the Albanian capital. The hotel, owned by Kastrati Residences Ltd, a subsidiary of Kastrati Group, is set to open towards the end of 2023 and will be Albania’s first Hilton Hotels & Resorts property.

Influenced by a Mediterranean seasonal climate, Tirana is said to be one of the sunniest cities in Europe. Boasting an abundance of entertainment, arts, music and food, its proud historic monuments are contrasted with modern buildings and stunning mountain scenery. Tirana’s central location and modern transportation links also make it the most important economic and political hub in Albania.

The hotel will be situated a short walk from Tirana’s top tourist attractions, including the Et’hem Bey Mosque and Skanderbeg Monument. Business travellers will enjoy convenient access to the nearby government buildings and financial centre, as well as excellent transport links to Tirana train station and Tirana International Airport – both within a 30-minute drive.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton said, “Having opened our first hotel in Albania in 2018, we’re extending our portfolio with the introduction of Hilton Tirana. Partnering with exceptional owners like Kastrati Group has led to enormous momentum across Europe, with nearly 450 hotels trading and a pipeline of 220 properties in development. Tirana is undergoing a transformation into a thriving metropolis, and we see great potential in this rapidly developing city. Albania saw visitor numbers increase by more than 70% between 2014 and 2019.”

Shefqet Kastrati, President, Kastrati Group, said, “We look forward to working with Hilton to bring its prestigious flagship brand to Albania for the first time. Tirana continues to attract growing numbers of visitors as it progresses in its ambition to become a “kaleidoscope metropolis,” and we look forward to working with Hilton on our inaugural project together.”

The hotel will have 174 guestrooms, including 18 suites, as well as an executive lounge and extensive meetings and events space. In addition to a spacious spa, indoor pool and fitness centre, its rooftop, designed to blend closely with the surroundings, will boast a stunning pool and lounge with breathtaking views of the Skanderberg Mountains and parkland.

Hilton Tirana will join a portfolio of more than 575 hotels and resorts worldwide. It will be the first Hilton-branded property in Albania, following the opening of Hilton Garden Inn Tirana in Summer 2018.
