One of the most sustainable in a long line of exceptional Slovakian innovative products is Ecocapsule®, a fully off-grid, smart, self-sustainable micro-unit, powered only by solar and wind energy. It allows you to stay in remote places out of reach of urban networks. Ecocapsule® offers a designed way to fully equipped independent mid-term accommodation for one or two people to use as a cottage, pop-up hotel, mobile office, research station or anything you want it to be.

Award-winning architect and Co-Founder, CEO & Design Director of Ecocapsule, Tomas Zacek, came up with the idea of a modern, mobile and sustainable micro-home. He is a member of the European Young Leaders EYL40 initiative, which connects established talents from across Europe in a wide range of fields.

“We intend to enhance the solar panels, and in a longer time perspective, we want to connect more Ecocapsules in blocks such as a beehive,” Žaček says. “Our customers are various people from eco-minded people to sportsmen and managers or the owners of a ranch.”

The innovation is particularly interesting from the aspect of a new initiative dubbed »regenerative revolution«. Slovakia and its innovative companies are increasingly focusing on sustainability. Recently, Slovakia came sixth in the Sustainable Travel Index Rankings 2020, outrunning more than 90 countries. Find out more information at Euromonitor International.

Among the key focus groups for the product are digital nomads, who focus on remote working while travelling to destinations around the world. Countries are even offering them subsidies and encourage them to extend their stay. Above all, Ecocapsule seems a very attractive solution for digital nomads, who have also been flocking Bratislava, which has proven to be a hotspot for remote workers.

One of the greatest advantages of the Ecocapsule® is that it allows you to stay in remote places out of reach of infrastructure, with the luxury of a hotel room. The Slovakian company has engineered the product from scratch to be as self-sufficient, practical and functional as possible. The unique shape of Ecocapsule® not only minimizes heat loss but also provides the most important thing for life: water. Rainwater is collected on the surface, where it’s collected to the water tank and filtered. Susan Sarandon, actress and eco-activist was the first to purchase the Ecocapsule.
