EVENTS STRUCK BY LIGHTNING
Sparks always fly at Tallinn’s hands-on science centre, the former machine house of the Tallinn Power Plant. The 100-year-old building is located just outside the walls of Old Town. Energy Discovery Centre features daily lightning shows unique in Northern Europe, static electricity demonstrations, over 100 hands-on exhibits, and Planetarium screenings. This unique, industrial building is a great place to organise seminars, meetings, and corporate events. The Lightning Hall renovated in 1930s style with its exhibits is an absolute icebreaker at receptions and offers fun activities at conference breaks. The Centre also offers special activities with a touch of science.
The main hall of the Energy Discovery Centre was used as the generator room of the power plant throughout the building’s history. During renovations, it was converted into an elegant and spacious hall in the style of the 1930s, where visitors can see old turbines and generators in addition to the exhibits of the history of electricity. The Lightning Hall is a great place for receptions, concerts, and gala dinners. The Science Theatre, which is connected to the Lightning Hall, can be used as the stage, and the teachers’ lounge (13 m2 | 140 ft2) can be used as an ancillary room. The room has darkening blinds and can be dimmed during the day.
