LOCATION
Bovec and the Soča Valley are unquestionably among the most photogenic Slovenian tourist destinations. The only thing missing was an instagrammable hotel. Amid the corona crisis, Hotel Soča, built in Bovec by the legendary adrenaline agency Soča Rafting, opened its doors. Not only have they brought grace to the centre of Bovec, but they have also designed the city’s first purebred sports hotel. The hotel seems to have been made for organisers of incentive programmes and represents the heart of team building programmes in Posočje. While staying at the new centre, guests can feel the authenticity of Bovec’s adrenaline story known worldwide. The hotel is the new centre of teambuilding in the Soča Valley.
ACCESSIBILITY
Difficult roads often lead to the most beautiful destinations. To get there, you have to embark on scenic roads that excite all who believe the path itself is also a part of the experience. If you come to Bovec from central Slovenia, such a path will take you through Italy and the Predil Pass or the Vršič Pass. Moreover, Bovec can be accessed from Nova Gorica by going through Tolmin or Kobarid or going on the slightly more winding road through Idrija. In short, without a car, Bovec can hardly be reached. Luckily though, the Italian airports in Trieste and Venice are relatively close.
COLD STARTER - Architecture and aesthetics
The hotel was designed by SoNo Architects from Ajdovščina. The minimalist design nicely suits the square in the very centre of Bovec. The hotel rounds off the city square elegantly. We were even more impressed by the functional design. Guests seem to spontaneously pass through spacious rooms, from their room to the sports area to rafting and from the pool to the hotel bar. The balcony will await guests with splendid views of Kanin and the surrounding mountains. More than welcome for event organisers is the spacious public space, ideal for organising outdoor events.
WARM ENTRÉE - The staff and the culinary experience
As appropriate for such a hotel, the team appears youthful and enthusiastic, full of energy and positive vibrations. The eloquent young waiter added a nice final touch to the stay. During the visit, the guest only hosted a handful of guests; however, the breakfast was extremely diverse and locally coloured. The selection of cheese and meat products reflected the authentic cuisine of the region. Unfortunately, due to a limited stay, we did not get to evaluate the rest of the restaurant’s offer. Undoubtedly, the hotel bar offering incredible coffee deserves high praise.

Hotel rooms
The rooms are located on the first and second floors of the building. They boast a modern, spacious and elegant design. The bathroom is connected to the room through a panoramic glass wall. Even more impressive is the appearance of the wall, which imitates a rough concrete look. In combination with the wooden floor and furniture, everything appears very pleasant. The one thing we missed was the lighting above the otherwise spacious desk. We can assure you that you will have a calm night’s sleep in the excellent hotel bed.
Meetings centre
There is no purposely-built congress centre in the hotel. However, there are numerous alternative options. The spacious restaurant/breakfast lounge can be a unique event venue. Furthermore, the outdoor spaces offer countless possibilities. If you require classic congress venues, though, the Strgulčeva Hiša venue is only a shot away. Assuming that you will spend much of your time in nature, you are sure to find numerous special venues. Indeed, Bovec and its surroundings are like a scene from a movie.
DESSERT – The extras
The breakfast with a touch of local cuisine, the elegant selection of dishes and a top-class waiter are perfect for starting the day.
FLOP – NEGATIVE SURPRISES
The wellness on the top floor is not completely finished and lacks a few tiny details. When finished, we are sure it will be of great added value.
TOP – POSITIVE SURPRISES
The puristic design of the hotel and its modernity make it a pleasant stay. For the aforementioned reason, you are bound to feel great in the hotel. To top it off, the hotel also features an exquisite outdoor pool with a wooden terrace.
FINAL IMPRESSION AND CREDIBILITY
Hotel Soča is a new and content-wise fresh rising star of the Bovec hotel scene. We are delighted that the investor Soča Rafting pursued the idea of the hotel serving and following the wishes of their guests. The result is an incredible incentive hotel, lacking only a few rooms more for hosting large groups. The future of the product is bright also thanks to the new hotel. Praise goes to the entire team for the unique concept. In this hotel, you can find all you need in a simple and friendly manner. What is more, the hotel also has a low carbon footprint. Hotel Soča has become Soča Valley’s new X-factor.
