As of 1 July 2021, almost all event restrictions will be lifted across Austria, paving the way for a full return to in-person events throughout Europe. This is due to the sustained positive development of the vaccination programme and falling infection rates across the country.

For the Austrian capital and European MICE hub of Vienna, these latest measures, coupled with the Vienna Meeting Fund 2021-2023 (€4 million of aid to national and international event organisers hosting meetings in the city), reflects a sustained effort to re-energise the MICE industry.

“we can once again offer trade fair and event planners framework conditions with almost no restrictions.”

Event relaxations include:

· No limit to the number of participants
· Minimum distance rule removed
· No obligation to wear masks

For events welcoming 100+ persons, there is an obligation for all participants to comply with the ‘3-G rule’ and either be vaccinated, tested or recovered. Furthermore, event planners must notify authorities. For events with 500+ persons, a permit must be obtained. Further information can be found here.
