The 21st edition of the Secret Dinner took place on Saturday, 10 July 2021, in the beautiful park of the Sevnica Castle in the Posavje region of Slovenia. Guests were pampered by Alma Rekič (Restaurant Berc) and Polona Klančnik (PolaBekeraj), while the real star of the culinary event was the modra frankinja wine.
What is Secret Dinner (Skrivna večerja)?
The Secret Dinner project is the brainchild of Melinda Rebrek and Andreja Freyer, who share the same passion and love for great food and unique experiences. The monthly pop-up event invites the best Slovenian chefs to unusual locations and special venues, spiced up with excitement and some uncompromised secrecy. Menus are inspired by the chosen location and the chef’s enthusiasm; here rules only exist mostly to be disobeyed. Only the chef’s name and time of the events are known; the exact location of the pop-up restaurant is revealed three hours before the dinner.
The central idea is to attract and connect a colourful bunch of attendees that share the same passion and to present Slovenia’s best, enriching our country as a destination with yet another tasty and trendy reason to visit.
Secret Dinner in the Posavje region
Posavje is a region that has been attracting guests not only for its beautiful nature and friendly people, but also for its gastronomic offer and excellent wines. Among other things, it is also home to the native Slovenian grape variety modra frankinja (Blue franconian), and it was this noble variety, which grows in the vineyard of Sevnica Castle, that was the star of the evening. This time, the guests of the Secret Dinner were able to enjoy a culinary story that fused the cultural heritage of the Sevnica castle and authentic Slovenian wine.
