FORMER TRAM DEPOT

Stara Zajezdnia is a historical building in the heart of Kazimierz, one of Kraków’s most renowned districts. It was established in 1913 as a tram depot. The now renovated building is a unique city spot: the hall is an example of wooden framework architecture with brick filling, commonly known as the Prussian wall. It contributes to the extraordinary character of the interior and makes Stara Zajezdnia a place with a unique atmosphere. Two separate buildings (the hall and the restaurant) and spacious areas offer endless possibilities for event organisers.

In the early 1960s, when trams disappeared from the depot and the track was removed, bus workshops and warehouses were set up in its buildings. The depot then completely lost its importance. In 2010, Hotele DeSilva Sp. z. o. o. decided to take over the facility and from June 2012, Stara Zajezdnia Kraków by DeSilva functions in its present form as a gastronomic complex, combining the main beer hall, a smaller “Tram Restaurant”, a microbrewery and a summer garden with deckchairs.

Depending on the demand, the hall is able to accommodate up to 1,200 guests for a reception, up to 1,000 at beer feasts, and up to 650 in a theatre setting. Various festivals and fairs have already been held at the venue, including wine festivals, whiskey festivals and automotive fairs.
