Every year, Cankarjev dom – CD Cultural and Congress Centre Ljubljana assures a special transition from the Old- to the New Year. Also on the 31st of December 2021, to top its cultural and congress service, Cankarjev dom will provide diverse events and continue its tradition so that many arts and culture aficionados are able to attend internationally acclaimed performances.
CIRCUS LE ROUX
The main event of the New Year’s Eve in Cankarjev dom will be at 19.30 hours held by Cirque Le Roux ensemble and their performance A Deer in the Headlights. The largest and most beautiful halls of Cankarjev dom, the Gallus Hall, will be filled with acrobatics, pole vaulting, juggling, rollerblading across the table, etc. Cankarjev dom’s audiences are up for a real circus bomb that will cause explosions of excitement and bursts of laughter.
VITA
Befor the Circus, at 20.00 hours, the CD Club of Cankarjev dom will host Vita Mavrič, one of the most prominent and most important Slovenian chansonniers. Together with Jaka Puciher’s Quartet (piano, vibraphone, double bass and drums) she will perform the selection of timeless chansons by Jacques Prevert, Arsen Dedić, Jani Kovačič, Virtomil Zupan, Gregor Strniša, and Branko Šömn. Vita Mavrič is an internationally acclaimed chansonnier with more than thirty years of her own projects, who developed and led international festivals La vie en rose and Café Teater.
I’M YOUR MAN (Ich bin dein Mensch)
At the same time, but in Kosovel Hall, a movie, directed by Maria Schrader will present a tragicomical meditation on what makes us human, exploring our perceptions of love and longing. The story focuses on Alma, a scientist, who accepts an offer to participate in an extraordinary experiment. She is to live with a humanoid robot whose artifical intelligencce has been designed to allow it to morph into that of her ideal life partner.
