With several new hotels opening their doors, the number of rooms in four and five-star hotels in Ljubljana will increase to 2689 (the current number is 2120). Thus, Ljubljana will solidify its position as a destination with an ideal ratio between the number of available hotel rooms and meeting capacities.

We have garnered information on when hotels plan to open their doors to guests and how their offer will enrich Ljubljana.

Hotel Occidental Ljubljana will open its doors in early 2023. Managed by the Spanish hotel chain Barcelo Hotel Group, the four-star hotel will feature 151 rooms. Guests will be able to attend meetings in a smaller conference centre with three rooms, ranging from 30 to 40 m2. The hotel’s trump card will be its central location, just a shot away from Cankarjev dom Cultural and Congress Centre and the picturesque Old Town quarter.

Slovenian investors, the Albreht family who own a major goldsmith company – Zlatarna Celje – stand behind the construction of the Grand Plaza Hotel, boasting a central location close to the Railway station, This 5-star property, to be opened in late May 2022, will feature 345 rooms as well as seven multipurpose halls, the largest one offering 350 seats. The Grand Plaza Hotel is set to revitalise the area’s social life and attract both locals and visitors with an innovative gastronomic offer.

Neuhaus Residences will be a hybrid between a residential and hotel building and will be the first residential building in Slovenia to offer 55 residences with services. Select units will be purposefully designed for business stays. Guests will be able to enjoy the pool on the terrace, use the fitness, coworking space and various services. The complex will also offer a smaller conference room that will welcome up to 12 attendees.

Hotel Čad is a boutique hotel in the making by the owners of the iconic Gostilna Čad Inn, located at the foot of Rožnik Hill, one of Ljubljana’s most beloved recreational walking spots. The boutique, four-star hotel will feature 18 rooms and a cafe in the lobby. The exact date of opening has not been disclosed yet.

Ljubljana will, therefore, soon have an ideal ratio between the number of available hotel rooms and maximum hall capacity in a theatre setting. The index is 115,85, which is considered a balanced ratio. There will be a total of 1,100 centrally located hotel rooms in the 5- and 4-star range at a walking distance to either of the two larger meeting venues – Cankarjev dom and GR- Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, complemented by 715 rooms in the 3-star range.

With the latest addition of new hotels in 2022 and early 2023, Slovenia’s capital will easily play host to larger international congresses for up to 2000 participants.
