ExCeL London has further strengthened its Conference & Events team ahead of a strong 2022 calendar as confidence continues to return to the industry.

Jamie Ades brings with him more than 15 years of experience to the role of Senior Account Manager at ExCeL, including recent positions at ICC Wales and Visit Britain. Meanwhile, Jane Hague returns from a short sabbatical to her position as Head of Business Development and Senior Account Manager Katy Gough re-joins the team following maternity leave, boasting almost 14 years at the Royal Docks venue.

Their arrival is linked to a burgeoning uplift in market confidence in the sector with a run of major corporate events and association congresses from April to July 2022 and beyond.

Taking place in May (7th to 12th), the Joint Annual Meeting ISMRM-ESMRMB and the ISMRT 31st Annual Meeting is one such event, followed by the IFSSH, IFSHT & FESSH Combined Congress 2022 – the worlds’ biggest congress on hand surgery and therapy.

The International Liver Congress (22nd to 26th June) and the 27th WONCA Europe Conference (28th June to 1st July) follow shortly, before the leading thrombosis and haemostasis congress – ISTH – gets underway from 9th to 13th July. All of these bring together their respective medical communities face-to-face for the first time since the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Amazon’s AWS Summit London on 27th April begins a cluster of high-profile technology events, along with Temenos 2022 (17th to 19th May), and Salesforce World Tour London (26th May), further demonstrating the strong appetite of corporate organisations to re-engage in-person, particularly with travel restrictions in the UK less restrictive than other parts of Europe.

James Rees

Executive Director at ExCeL

James Rees, C&E Executive Director at ExCeL, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jamie, Jane and Katy back to the team in what is a very busy period for the Conference & Events business at ExCeL, on a par with pre-pandemic levels. What we are seeing is market confidence returning quickly and strongly from organisers, stakeholders, sponsors and attendees alike, with the destination appeal of hosting or attending a London-centric event a key driver to this.”

He added: “Enquiries and event confirmations for 2022 are high, but we are also seeing increasing interest in the future and are already issuing contracts for 2023 and beyond, including events that will use the new facilities of our 25,000m2 world-class expansion programme.”
