BREŽICE/ČATEŽ – MTLG Destination Update 2022

In 2022, the Municipality of Brežice received the Slovenia Green Destination Platinum Award, which means that the destination was recognised as a sustainable and green tourist destination. The part of Kozjansko Park, which is the recipient of the Slovenia Green Park label, and the Jovsi Nature Park, which is part of Nature 2000, is also situated within the territory of the municipality. In 2022, Brežice received the title of European City of Sport 2022.

Three providers at the destination obtained the Green Key sustainable label: Ošterija Debeluh Brežice and Gostilna Pension Les and MC Hostel Brežice, which obtained the sustainable certificate Hostelling International Quality and Sustainability (HI – Q&S), which is the basis for obtaining the certificate Slovenia Green Accommodation.

The city is currently renovating the water tower in Brežice. It is one of two remaining in Slovenia and it will be completed at the end of 2022. In 2022, investors will start building a platform at the popular point of Sv. Vid to which Čatež’s energy path leads.

Brežice Town Hall

When visiting Čatež and Brežice, it is definitely worth taking the time to visit the Town Hall in the centre of Brežice. The local boutique shop offers a rich selection of products carefully grown on farms, as well as products of local artists and craftsmen. In addition, the wine shop offers many delicious wines from Posavje winemakers.
