Marriott poised to manage a luxury hotel in Opatija

Marriot will manage the luxurious Riva's Hotels & Resort in Ičići

Marriott International has signed a contract with Riva’s Hotel & Resorts to manage a hotel in Opatija. The Marriott Opatija Hotel is set to open in the summer of 2025. The investment is estimated at 70 million EUR.

In the past year, the cornerstone of an exciting hotel story was laid in the centre of Ičići, which will soon turn into a hotel jewel. Riva’s Hotels & Resorts will become one of the most sought-after regional hotels with the expertise of Marriott, one of the world’s largest and most renowned hotel chains. Marriott has 30 brands in its portfolio with over 8,000 accommodation facilities in as many as 139 countries around the world.

The construction of Marriot Opatija will cost around 70 million EUR. It will be a luxury five-star hotel with 180 rooms and 12 villas. Investor Lorinz Meszaros wished the new operator many guests. “When we decided to build a hotel like this, we were aware that we had to find a reliable partner to manage it. We found such a partner in the world’s largest Marriot brand, with whom we plan to achieve successful cooperation. The hotel should start operating in the summer of 2025. I believe that the guests will enjoy the hotel and take with them the vista of beautiful Croatia.”

In addition to the 34 hotels in Opatija thus far, Opatija will get another prestigious name. Last year, Opatija recorded almost one million and 400 thousand overnight stays, while 65-70 per cent of them were in hotel accommodations. The information about the continuous increase in stays in hotels of the highest category is also encouraging. With the opening of Marriot Opatija, these figures will rise in the future.
