At the beginning of the week, the second LUV fest, a festival of love and art, came to a successful close. From February 8 to March 12, residents and visitors of Ljubljana could once again enjoy a colourful mosaic of content: concerts, theatre, opera, ballet, dance and film shows, performances, literary meetings, guided tours, creative workshops, outdoor art installations, unique decoration in the city, as well as special offers in hotels, restaurants and merchants.

LUV fest, prepared by Ljubljana Tourism in cooperation with many partners, started on a Slovenian cultural holiday and – just as symbolically – ended on St. Gregor’s Day, the Slovenian version of Valentine’s Day.

Many events for different target groups

The second edition offered more than 130 different cultural experiences. Together with partners, Ljubljana Tourism prepared high-profile outdoor events, such as the lighting of light installations on the Congress Square with a performance by the renowned choreographer and dancer DISKOlectiv and the light-experiential ambience of Ana Srčna in the Špica Park. Residents and visitors of the city were offered special guided tours around Ljubljana, which gave them an insight into the different layers of the Slovenian capital, including guided tours through the love stories of Ljubljana and guided tours through the eyes of young people from the LGBTIQ+ community. The city came alive with dance events, film screenings and theatre performances. The streets between Gornji trg and Soteska and Zvezda Park were marked by artistic creation: installations by artists Matej Bizovičar and Janez Grošlj. Special decorations on the theme of LUV fest also livened up the atmosphere on some other streets in the old town.

Implementation of strategic goals

With the LUV fest, Ljubljana Tourism implements strategic efforts to deseasonalize Ljubljana tourism as much as possible; the festival enlivens the months when the city is quieter, also from the point of view of tourist visits. The goal of the festival is to position Ljubljana as a destination worth visiting in February and March.
