Latitude59, the pitching competition of the international startup and technology conference, which took place in Tallinn, Estonia from 22 to 24 May 2024 brought together global tech communities. Over 3,500 attendees, 900 startups and 20 national delegations gathered together to discuss the future of technology and innovation. 

In his opening address, President Alar Karis highlighted the immense impact of the tech sector on our future. He emphasized startups’ critical role in transforming scientific discoveries into practical solutions and called for regulatory changes to foster AI adoption.

This year’s themes, Connection and Responsibility, resonated throughout the event. CEO Liisi Org stressed the importance of these themes, stating, “Latitude59’s role is to bring crucial discussions about technology’s future to the startup community.

Latitude59 drew an impressive crowd, including nearly 600 investors managing portfolios worth €30 billion. The event featured 195 speakers from over 60 countries, with 40% being women. The diverse range of topics covered deep tech, defence sector innovation, and the challenges of AI implementation.

One standout event was the ‘Thinking in Billions’ short conference, focusing on health technologies, AI, data, and defence industry startups. This pre-conference day, dedicated to investors and decision-makers, underscored the collaborative spirit that Latitude59 fosters.

Latitude59 not only showcased Estonia’s thriving tech scene but also reinforced its position as a global hub for innovation. The event’s success underscores the vital role of entrepreneurial minds, inspiring leadership, lean companies, and proactive governments in shaping our digital future.

The competition concluded with three winners: Beholder earned the largest investment of 600,000 euros, AskToSell took home 300,000 euros, and GaltTec 100,000 euros.
