Several popular destinations across the UK have seen even steeper increases. Brighton experienced the highest jump, with prices soaring by 18.6%. London followed closely with a 16% increase, while Edinburgh saw a 12% rise. Other notable increases include Bath at 11.9%, Bournemouth at 8.9%, and York at 8.5%.
Bath has emerged as the most expensive UK destination in August 2024, with an average nightly rate of £320. Brighton and London also ranked high, with prices averaging £200 and £195 per night, respectively.
Toni Raurich, Director of eBooking.com, commented on the findings, noting that while prices are still rising, the rate of increase has begun to slow. “The good news is that price increases in the travel sector have begun to moderate. The price increase from 2022 to 2023 was more than 10%,” he said.
eBooking.com’s data also highlighted the most popular destinations outside of the UK, with Porto, Lisbon, Rome, and Barcelona topping the list.
eBooking.com monitors vacation accommodation hotel prices as well as the going rates in hostels, campsites, and holiday apartments. All are more expensive this year. Unlike other platforms, ebooking.com does not charge users for services nor does it add to advertised prices for booking fees.
