NEED TO KNOW IN 2024

The Passenger Hotel will open its doors in Salzburg in the autumn of 2024, adding a great, innovative and modern concept to the city’s existing hotel portfolio. The Tribute Portfolio Hotel is the perfect address for meetings, conferences and incentives with flexible rooms for up to 90 participants. In addition, 120 brand new hotel rooms and various F&B outlets are welcoming the guests to the new property.

A Salzburg institution reinvents itself: the Hotel zum Hirschen in the city of Salzburg is known to many as the “Hirschenwirt” and has been in the hands of the current owner’s family since 1830. Following extensive renovation work focussing on sustainable design and materials from the region, the seminar hotel offers comfort at the highest level under the motto “Stay Joyful”.

MOONCITY Salzburg will enter a new era in 2024, reloaded and re-charged after an extensive refurbishment. The flexible, modern event location is equipped with cutting-edge technology such as an LED wall, screen and high-end lighting and sound system and is also certified with the Austrian Ecolabel as a “Green Location”.

BEST INCENTIVE IDEA

The best idea is different for each client, but something new and very unique – and for sure fun – is the Moonbike action activity by Montée Teambuilding & Events. The activity or actually the Moonbikes has only been available since 2024 and is definitely worth a try during the next winter incentive in Salzburg. Find out more here.

Salzburg mountain cleaners

Mönchsberg, Kapuzinerberg, Rainberg, Nonnberg/Festungsberg, Hellbrunnerberg – just as SalzburgerLand is rich in mountains, the capital also boasts numerous mountains, without which the people of Salzburg could not imagine their city. What is a fantastic short excursion destination for walkers and those seeking relaxation is the daily workplace for a small, daring elite group. Let us introduce you to the ‘Salzburg mountain cleaners’. (German: “Bergputzer”)

Since 1778 there has been a male profession in the city of Salzburg that is probably unique – namely the profession of ‘mountain cleaner’. For centuries, Salzburg’s mountain cleaners have been securing the rock of Mönchsberg, Kapuzinerberg, Rainberg, Festungsberg and Hellbrunner Berg.

The profession goes back to a serious rockfall disaster on 16 July 1669. However, even before 1669, the rock had been cleaned on a case-by-case basis by mountain cleaners on behalf of the affected citizens. The first mountain cleaners, regarded as bold heroes, were allegedly called Hauser, Brandauer and Jager. These names have been preserved to this day because it became customary to call subsequent mountain cleaners by these names.
