LUV Fest is a festival of love, art and rambling, which will take place in Ljubljana from 8 February, a day when the greatest Slovenian poet France Prešeren is commemorated, through to 12 March, when by tradition birds start their courtship.

With the LUV Fest festival, Ljubljana celebrates the love for culture, heritage, and the Slovenian language. Under the common theme of love, Ljubljana will present numerous cultural events in the city along with an engaging accompanying program. It’s a festival encompassing all genres for all generations. During the festival, the aim for Ljubljana is to become a space for discovery, learning, encountering, and coexisting with various cultures.

The festival will begin on Prešeren’s Day when many cultural institutions invite visitors to visit their collections and exhibitions free of charge. There will also be free guided tours of Prešern’s Ljubljana, where visitors will learn about the legacy of Slovenia’s greatest poet.

Open-air gallery

With the start of the LUV fest, the city centre will once again turn into an open-air art gallery for a month. Its central part will be a new light and sound installation by the artist Tilno Sepić. Five luminous spheres will float above the river in circular motions, creating an endless dance of light bodies.

Throughout the festival, an indispensable part of the open-air gallery will be the cute birdhouses (birds are, after all, harbingers of spring and a symbol of lovers), strung between the houses on Wolf Street. During the festival, there will be special guided tours of the open-air art gallery, which will also reveal love stories about Ljubljana.

An extraordinary range of experiences

The festival offers a wide range of different experiences, including thematic guided tours, workshops, film screenings, exhibitions, music and dance events, and events for singles and families with children.

For example, it will be possible to experience a special LUV evening at the Computer Museum in the cultural quarter of Šiška, to walk with young people through LGBTQ+ Ljubljana, or to discover stories about love in the City Museum or Vila Zlatica.
