B2B matchmaking at trade shows is imperative to achieve high ROI. Although there are many platforms on the market, one seems to have blazed a new trail for trade shows. Wyred, a holistic app for matchmaking and delegate engagement, has been changing how event attendees schedule meetings and optimise their meetings to find the best matches for their business. Developed by Grip, the app leverages artificial intelligence to provide seamless event experiences.

The roots of the cooperation between M&I and Grip go deep. M&I, the company behind some of the industry’s most recognisable events, and Grip, a leading technological event company, co-developed the Wyred app to ensure event attendees can pre-schedule events, scan data and focus on what matters most: in-person connections.

The Wyred app proved indispensable during the second M&I Fest in Marrakech. Attendees could effortlessly scan their colleagues’ badges, discover their profiles and appoint meetings well before the show. The company’s references speak for themselves: they have partnered with the premier Asia-Pacific trade show, AIME, UK-based media behemoth Mash Media, Switzerland Tourism and Messe Frankfurt, to name a few.

The two companies grew together, perpetually improving the app’s user-friendliness and features through feedback provided by the attendees. For the first time, Grip also participated in the event with its own booth where attendees could learn about their services and products. Maria Martin, Chief Operations Officer, commented on the debut of their company: “It is exciting to join M&I in person. Our cooperation with the company goes a long way back, and we are honoured to have grown together. The Wyred app we developed is a holistic app that continues evolving thanks to the contributions and feedback from the M&I team.”

Grip has also been instrumental in boosting revenues and driving ROI. Up to now, over 5,000 events have used Grip and some two million meetings were booked through the platform.

Leveraging high touch for the human touch

Besides Grip, the Tech Zone at M&I Fest was enriched by Holoconnects, an industry-leading company specialising in holograms. Their life-size holograms were recently used at the United Nations’ Global Forum, bridging the gap between digital, hybrid and live. Both the Holobox and its younger brother, Holobox mini, can be rented or purchased for events. Attendees at the event could partake in live demonstrations of the innovative product.

Although there are concerns about the limitations of AI, the events industry has been quick to implement AI-powered tools into every part of the business. Together with Grip, M&I has been maximising the potential of digitalised matchmaking. The number of successfully conducted meetings and the 0% now-show rate is a testament to both companies’ aspiration to foster progress in the industry.
