Cankarjev dom – Cultural and Congress Centre Ljubljana is proud to announce that it will host the ESC Preventive Cardiology 2026 Congress, taking place from 23 to 25 April 2026. Organised by the European Association of Preventive Cardiology (EAPC), this prestigious event will return to Ljubljana for the second time, following a highly successful edition in 2018.

This year’s congress, held in Milan from 3 to 5 April, focused on the theme Risk Factor Realities in 2025. Organisers highlighted how advances in modern medicine and technology have helped us live longer, healthier lives, while also increasing the demand for care. To maintain this progress, it is crucial to manage cardiovascular risks effectively and embrace innovation in diagnostics and treatment.

Having hosted ESC Preventive Cardiology in 2018, Cankarjev dom is honoured to welcome this community again. That edition still holds the record for the highest number of participants ever at the congress – there were 1,486 participants coming from 52 countries – and left a lasting impression on both the association and delegates. With this strong foundation, the 2026 team is aiming to surpass previous attendance and deliver an even more impactful experience.

In Milan, a Cardiovascular Health Check – offering blood pressure measurements and a simple blood test that helps assess individual cardiovascular risk. This initiative not only promotes personal health awareness but also supports the broader message of preventive cardiology. This successful practice will continue next year at the congress in Ljubljana.

In line with the congress’s preventive focus, the Ljubljana edition will feature active breaks with guided physical activities, healthy nutrition options, and other wellness-oriented elements. Sustainability will also play a central role in the event’s organisation, with particular attention paid to reducing the carbon footprint and introducing eco-friendly practices throughout.

The Milan congress also served as a launchpad for promoting ESC Preventive Cardiology 2026 and the destination of Ljubljana. CD’s booth received strong interest and excellent visibility, where delegates could learn more about accessibility, attractions, and local highlights – all communicated in a sustainable way.

Cankarjev dom was very pleased to have conversations with participants who will be visiting Ljubljana for the first time next year and who eagerly gathered all the necessary information about our city. CD team members were especially delighted to reconnect with many of the 2018 participants, who warmly remembered Ljubljana as a vibrant and welcoming host city and who will gladly attend the congress again next year.

Cankarjev dom is looking forward to welcoming the international cardiovascular community back to Ljubljana and to building on the success of past events with fresh energy and new ideas.
