Serbia Convention Bureau of the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia marked a key milestone, its 18th anniversary. The anniversary was celebrated with the ceremonial presentation of the “Serbia Congress Ambassadors 2025” awards. This recognition, traditionally given to representatives of the academic, scientific, and professional communities, honours individuals who, through their work and international engagement, strengthen Serbia’s reputation as an event destination.

At the jubilee tenth gathering, held at the Hyatt Regency Belgrade hotel, eight distinguished professors, scientists, and experts received this prestigious title, bringing the total number of Congress Ambassadors to 97.

Serbia Congress Ambassadors 2025

Here are the recipients of the “Serbia Congress Ambassadors 2025” award:

• Nikola Jevtic, MSc in Physiotherapy, international Schroth instructor and president of PSSE
• MD PhD Dušan Keckarević, Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade
• MD PhD Mirjana Rajilić-Stojanović, Associate Professor at the University of Belgrade, Molecular microbiologist
• Public Health Association of Serbia, for its contribution to securing the organisation of the European Public Health Congress 2027 in Belgrade
• MD PhD Ljiljana Marina, Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, Endocrinology
• Marija Vitas, ethnomusicologist and promoter of Serbia’s cultural heritage
• Arch. Nemanja Sipetic, expert in urban underground space planning
• MD Antoan Stefan Sojat, University Clinical Centre of Serbia, Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases

The awards were presented by Marija Labovic, Director of the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia, who outlined that Serbia – and Belgrade in particular – is taking an increasingly prominent place on the global congress map. Additional momentum for international recognition is expected from the upcoming specialised exhibition EXPO 2027 Belgrade, hosted by Serbia.

49 congresses were held in Serbia, 38 of them in Belgrade.

The results achieved in 2024 were also presented during the event: 49 congresses were held in Serbia, 38 of them in Belgrade, along with an improved position on ICCA rankings: Serbia is 49th in the world and 26th in Europe, while Belgrade ranks 64th globally and 37th in Europe. It was highlighted that the joint efforts of all stakeholders contribute to the growing international visibility of Serbia’s event destinations, especially Belgrade and Novi Sad, as well as other cities.
