Q1: How would you describe the current situation in Dubai from an events industry perspective?
Dubai remains safe, stable and open, with public services, hospitality offerings, venues, and transport networks operating to the standards our visitors would normally expect. From an events industry perspective, the situation in Dubai is best described as open and adaptive. Operations continue, but with a high degree of flexibility built into planning and delivery.
The focus has been on maintaining readiness and supporting clients.
We have been working with organisers and stakeholders to actively assess timing, formats, and travel considerations, and, in some cases, adjust or postpone events if required, to ensure maximum attendance, especially for international delegates and attendees. The focus has been on maintaining readiness, supporting clients through developments and ensuring that when events do proceed, they can do so with clear communication and confidence.

Q2: Are you seeing concrete shifts in client behaviour, e.g. shorter booking windows, cancellations, postponements or more last-minute decision-making?
The most positive indicator is that associations, corporate, and incentive groups remain committed to hosting their events here. Adaptability is crucial as we see adjustments to decision-making timelines in line with regional development. Clients are seeking greater flexibility, with more scenario planning and a preference for adaptable contracts. In many cases, tentpole events such as the Arabian Travel Market and Art Dubai are being rescheduled to later dates, while others are shifting their formats slightly.
Q3: How decisive is the perception of safety today compared to the actual operational reality when clients choose Dubai?
Perception plays a significant role in initial decision-making.
We are fortunate that Dubai benefits from a strong track record of safe delivery, clear communication and effective coordination across the public and private sectors, as was the case a few years ago with the Covid global disruption, and now again with the current situation.
Once clients engage with the operational realities on the ground, confidence tends to rise quickly, dispelling any misconceptions, which is why we have emphasised clear, verified communications about situational developments from the outset. That consistency helps bridge the gap between perception and reality.

Q4: What is, in your view, Dubai’s key competitive advantage in this environment of ongoing uncertainty?
Dubai’s key advantage is its ability to navigate unpredictability operationally through agility, swift action, and future-focused proactivity. Decision-making is fast, communication is clear, coordination across the public and private sectors is strong, and contingency planning is proactive rather than reactive. For clients, this translates into confidence even as global conditions remain unpredictable. Dubai offers continuity and the assurance that events will be delivered to the highest standards, with an unparalleled, ever-growing business events ecosystem and city-wide infrastructure. The quick stabilisation across business, aviation and daily life for Dubai’s citizens and residents is a testament to this.
