In the shelter of Pohorski dvor

At the foot of Pohorje lies the Botanical Garden of the University of Maribor, which operates under the auspices of the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences University of Maribor. In addition to its exceptionally rich botanical collections — including an archaeological park open to visitors — the garden is overlooked by the medieval Grad Hompoš.

Event organisers can host their events in a modern auditorium connected to the medieval Grad Hompoš, also known as Pohorski dvor. Although primarily used as a lecture hall, the auditorium can be adapted into an event venue, while the light-filled atrium next to it is suitable for receptions of up to 100 participants. The venue also offers its own catering services, further enhancing the event experience. In addition, the medieval castle complex includes several seminar rooms that combine contemporary design with historic architectural elements, creating a distinctive setting for meetings and smaller events.

The Botanical Garden is among the most biodiverse in Slovenia, offering an opportunity to introduce event participants to the richness of the local flora and fauna. The garden is also home to impressive 120-year-old sequoias that thrive even in the Slovenian climate. Located on the site of a former castle park, the Botanical Garden provides a fascinating insight into a wide variety of native and non-native species of trees, shrubs and flowers.
