From 11 to 13 May 2026, the city of Maribor will once again host Podim, one of the most influential startup and technology conferences, bringing together founders, investors and corporate innovators in a deliberately curated environment that prioritises meaningful outcomes over sheer scale.

With more than 1,000 participants expected, including around 150 selected startups and over 150 international investors, Podim positions itself as a “boutique” event, where structured matchmaking and targeted networking replace the noise typically associated with large-scale industry expos. The conference continues to serve as a key gateway between the Alps, Adriatic and CEE startup ecosystems and global capital.

The three-day programme is built around practical insight, reflecting the realities faced by startups operating in an increasingly competitive global market. Content is organised into thematic tracks that address core challenges across the innovation lifecycle. Among them are Founder Confessions, where entrepreneurs share candid lessons from scaling companies; The Global Tech Race, examining Europe’s position in the international innovation landscape; and The AI Revolution, which focuses on applied artificial intelligence and emerging systems. Additional tracks include Digital Disruption, with a strong emphasis on fintech and infrastructure; Deep Tech Frontiers, exploring the commercialisation of scientific research; Builders Stage, dedicated to tactical growth and go-to-market strategies; and the Investors Academy, tailored specifically to venture capital professionals.

Over 80 speakers slated to host presentations

The main activities will be held at Maribox, while Narodni Dom will serve as the hub for investor meetings. More than 80 speakers are expected to take part, representing a mix of founders, venture capitalists and corporate innovation leaders. Confirmed names include Amir Salihefendic, founder and CEO of Doist; Ivan Bešlić, co-founder of Sofascore; Kimeshan Naidoo, co-founder of Familiar and Unibuddy; Maximilian Fleitmann, founding partner at Wizard Ventures; and Grace Francisco, a former executive at Microsoft, Atlassian and Roblox with a focus on AI and developer ecosystems.

While structured meetings form the backbone of the event, Podim also places strong emphasis on informal interaction. Side events, terrace gatherings, and networking sessions are integrated into the programme to encourage deeper relationship-building and long-term collaboration across the ecosystem.
