The mansion is best known for its association with Franz Tahy, widely regarded as one of the principal figures whose actions contributed to the outbreak of the Croatian–Slovene Peasant Revolt of 1573. It is also distinguished by the remarkable frescoes and stucco decoration in its grand ceremonial hall and elegant salons. The mansion was built by the Attems family, one of the most influential noble families in Styria, particularly during the Baroque period. For the project, the family commissioned the Graz-based architect Johann Joachim Carlone, who was among the most prominent architects of the Baroque era.

Dvorec Štatenberg is an ideal venue for a wide range of events, particularly for organisers seeking to combine prestige with a historic atmosphere. The mansion also provides its own catering services for events. The hospitality offer at Štatenberg Mansion is especially well known for formal dinners for up to 50 guests. One of its greatest highlights is the wine cellar, where participants can sample wines produced by local winemakers from the Haloze region. For an added touch, events can also be held in the courtyard, which is home to the castle café. The mansion can accommodate up to 160 guests in the outdoor courtyard and 90 participants in the grand ceremonial hall.
