Our nascent list of the top 100 event agency leaders across Europe doubles as an industry compass, showing the future trajectory of events and conferences. The outstanding individuals on the list keep a keen eye on the pulse of the times. Andreas Goeltl, CEO of Media Apparat, ranked #47 on the list, discussed the rising role of AI and creating a team atmosphere within their team.

Q1: The Top 100 European event agency leaders list has provided a who’s who of the events industry for the first time. How do you see this recognition, and what does it mean for your agency?

It is an honour and an acknowledgement of a long journey.

Q2: Live events seem to be the buzzword of 2026. With the industry going from strength to strength, how do you see the future of events?

At the moment, I don’t hate any buzzwords :D (it has been different in the past). In general, I see a very bright future for live events and live experiences – this is the future! But economically, times are challenging, and especially customers demanding really exceptional events are getting fewer lately.

Q3: How are economic and political turmoil, rising production costs and ambitious client expectations affecting your agency’s business model?

We have been shifting from creating shows and short-term experiences to longer-lasting (but still live) experiences.

Q4: Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping creative and operational processes. To what extent have you integrated it across your processes, and which jobs remain out of its reach?

Senior Experts are more in demand than ever. Curating AI experiences and creating AI workflows is the task of the future. We have even extended our teams – and our output has multiplied, and the quality is higher than ever.

“I would advise my younger self to work in a well-regarded agency for at least five years before starting my own business.”

Q5: How does your event agency attract and retain young talent?

We have two main ways. Deliver top-quality international projects to draw attention from talent. And create a team atmosphere where everyone feels at home and can thrive.

Q6: If you could enter a time machine, what would you advise yourself when you first started in the events industry?

Be confident! You will be among the top 100 in the industry soon 😉

Q7: If you had to single out one event from your portfolio, which would it be and why?

Austrian Tourism Day 2024 – low budget, exceptional outcome, so many crazy concepts involved. Ahead of its time.

“I see Europe as highly divided – it seems the formally »Eastern« world is unified, but the Western world sees itself divided – not from the Eastern market alone, but Germany from France from Italy from Britain, etc.”

Q8: Does Europe genuinely operate as one event market, or do outdated divisions between established Western markets and “New Europe” still influence budgets, visibility and access to opportunities?

I see Europe as highly divided – it seems the formally »Eastern« world is unified, but the Western world sees itself divided – not from the Eastern market alone, but Germany from France from Italy from Britain, etc.
