The program for the show, taking place October 13 – 15 in Las Vegas, launches at a pivotal time for the business events industry. According to the 2026 Global Meetings & Events Forecast from Amex GBT, creating more engaging experiences is the industry’s top priority for the second consecutive year, and half of planners are now embracing AI in their work. At the same time, planners report growing demand for interactive learning, meaningful networking and more personalised event experiences.
In response, IMEX has introduced five new learning tracks exploring how thoughtful design drives better business outcomes and more impactful experiences.
Highlights from the program
Embracing AI without losing the human touch: AI remains one of the industry’s biggest opportunities and challenges, and this year’s program moves the conversation beyond basic prompts and experimentation to practical application.
One place to start is the Tech Education Space, curated by Dahlia El Gazzar, founder of Dahlia+ and widely known as the “Fairy Godmother of Event Tech.” The packed program explores how event professionals can use technology more strategically, with interactive sessions from technology experts and exhibitors working at the cutting edge of the industry.
In “AI and I: Innovating with intelligent audience engagement”, Nick Fagan, Head of Innovation at DRPG, explores how AI is transforming audience engagement, helping planners better understand attendee behaviors and uncover insights that drive stronger event outcomes.

MPI keynote speaker and digital wellbeing expert Caitlin Krause delivers “Empowered Connection in a Digitally Layered Landscape”. As AI and always-on technology become increasingly embedded in daily life, Caitlin looks at how event professionals can create experiences that strengthen attention and support well-being rather than detract from it.
Building resilience and confidence: Professional development also takes centre stage, with several sessions focused on leadership, confidence and personal growth. “The Sky is the Limit: Ask a Female Pilot” brings together former combat helicopter pilot Sarah Furness and endurance rally navigator Claudine Bloom for a candid conversation about resilience, self-belief and performing under pressure.
Designing for real human needs: One of the most significant additions to this year’s program is the Design for Human Needs track, reflecting a growing industry focus on accessibility, well-being and belonging.
“Neurodivergent-Inclusive Events on Any Budget: Practical Actions” with Paula Rowntree from the Australian Psychological Society is designed for planners looking for practical, low-cost ways to make their events more inclusive. The session covers everything from sensory-friendly spaces to communication tactics and scheduling design.
In “Event Design to Optimise Experience for Neurodivergent Participants,” Yush Sztalkoper, founder of Human Capacity Design™, and clinical psychologist Dr Matthew Zakreski explore how event design and technology can affect people differently. The session offers practical guidance for creating more inclusive and accessible event environments, helping every participant to take part more fully.
Finally, “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes: Designing Better Events Through Movement” with Dena Lewis, founder of Running Mate, encourages attendees to literally step outside and rethink the attendee journey. Combining a wellness walk with practical design insights, the session examines how movement, environment and well-being can work together to create more engaging and energising experiences.
