Melinda Rebrek

Managing Director at Zvereene Institute & LJFW Executive Producer

Started as Casting Manager in times when that profession in Slovenia was as common as E.T. Grew up in TV & Film production as Production Manager, Executive Producer, Script Supervisor, AD, etc. Mastered Event Management in all its variations while freelancing for marketing and event agencies and finally gladly embraced independency with Pirana Productions. A few years ago, a handful of dedicated individuals decided to face the challenge and put Slovene fashion on the map. Zvereene Institute was established and Ljubljana Fashion Week was born. The rest is history.

GENERAL

Q: What do you love about your job the most?

The variety of it. Different clients, projects, requests, wishes, angles …That makes my creativity tingle and my life unpredictable. And that is a good thing.

Q: Where do you see the biggest opportunity in marketing and MICE industry?

In personalisation. Everybody likes to feel special and just a bit of extra effort makes a difference. It is not that hard to accomplish it but quite often we forget about it.

Q: How do you deal with marketing jungle on daily basis?

Sincerely, I don’t think much about it. I am used to follow my instincts and whenever I took someone else’s advice it didn’t turn out so well. I chose to follow my own path and so far I seem to be on the right track.

Q: How did the best events you attended so far make you feel?

I don’t attend many events if they are not something that drives me personally. But if I must choose it’s the concerts that rock my world. They just energize me.

PERSONAL – BACKGROUND

Q: Looking at your bucket list, what is the one thing that you really wish to cross off until the end of 2017?

Master the water start at kiteboarding. I rarely have a week or more time to ‘waste’ on my personal wishes but I hope I will do better this year in that regard.

Q: If you could have dinner with anyone (alive or dead), who would you have dinner with and why?

Richard Branson and Dave Grohl. They are very Rock ’n’ Roll and out of the box characters and I guess that would be a blast of a dinner party.

CROSSOVER CONFERENCE

Q: What would you share with our participants if you would have only one minute?

Follow your dreams and don’t let others stop you with ‘beneficial’ advice. If you believe in something you will achieve it. Do some research, make a plan and then jump. If you fail, take it as a lesson. Improve your actions and do it again, be better.

Q: What are you bringing to Conventa Crossover?

A big smile and an open mind.
