Šibenik’s Fortress of Culture (Tvrđava kulture Šibenik) that prepares events in two of the four Šibenik‘s Fortresses – Barone and St.Michael (Sv.Mihovil) – organizes a spectacular entry into the Advent festivities.

Starting on Saturday, 2nd of December, the Fortress Barone invites to a special view over the 18th Šibenik’s Regatta (Šibenska regata krstaša). The entrance is free for everyone who want to enjoy in a unique opportunity to observe elegant sailboats competing with bura (eng.: bora) – a gusty and changeable Adriatic wind that can do both, perfectly dry proscuitto and lift the roofs, but not necessarily in the same order.

Regatta of sailing boats is therefore a perfect example of using the pre-historic power of bura into one’s advantage. No better opportunity for witnessing this spectacle than sitting on a top of a 17th Century fortress overlooking the Šibenik and its bay. The Fortress offers a special addition to the whole event: from 11am on 2nd of December, the visitors at Barone will be able to watch the regatta, listen to live music, drink mulled wine and enjoy in the culinary offer of Barone’s special Marendin treats combined of local cheese, cured meats, fish and veggies.

For those that can not attend the afternoon’s happening, Tvrđava kulture offers an evening view from Barone towards St.Michael’s Fortress which will become the largest advent wreath in town and will bring festivity joy to locals and visitors of this medieval Dalmatian town.
