Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Wins Prestigious Award in Human Resources Development

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) has won the “Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad” for the Large Service Sector at the recent Human Resource Development (HRD) Awards 2017. This accolade follows hot on the heels of the Centre’s achievement in winning the ‘Purpose Built Convention & Exhibition Centre Award For Excellence’ at the rAWr (Recognising Award Winning Results) Awards 2017, earlier in the month.

Speaking on the success at the HRD Awards 2017 Ceremony, which was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri (Dr) Richard Riot Anak Jaem, Minister of Human Resources, the Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor, shared, “This award is testament to the hard work and dedication of our Human Resources Department as well as our entire team. We place great emphasis on quality and service excellence at the Centre. Talent development and skills enhancement have always been a priority in our overall operations and that is why we are elated to win this award.”

He continued, “We have also played a pivotal role in the growth and development of Malaysia’s business events industry. Over the years, we have collaborated with various institutions of higher learning and developed numerous programmes and initiatives designed to nurture and develop local talent who can make a significant contribution to the Centre’s sustainable growth and success, and the industry as well. Our periphery remains towards setting greater standards in the industry as well.”

Most recently, the Centre established its very-own Training Academy, certified by the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF), to provide industry players with hospitality and business events courses and certifications. Under the academy, the Centre launched its first ‘earn and learn’ initiative, the Professional Development Programme, a 12-month programme which exposes participants to various departments within the Centre through both classroom-style and on-the-job training.

Other initiatives recognised by the judging panel included the Centre’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, a corporate culture that encourages innovation and creativity, work-life balance strategies and HR data analytics, which all play an important role in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre retaining its position as Malaysia’s premier facility and one of Asia Pacific’s leading meeting venues.

This recognition elevates the Centre in the service industry as the cultivator of future leaders in the business events industry for nurturing and refining potential talents.
