Asparagus is the only vegetable Slovakia successfully exports in large amounts.
The country started growing asparagus at the beginning of the 1990s. The aim of the 2 days festival “Asparagus days” is to present traditional cuisine, especially seasonal Slovak food, which is currently the asparagus in a modern design. Linda Kubanek of Sharkam Catering explained, Slovak gastronomy is really at a high level and it can compete with any country in the world.

At the Asparagus days, various specialties will be prepared for the visitors. One of the favorite asparagus creation – the asparagus cream and the cooked white asparagus with hollandaise sauce will be completed with some new culinary fusions such as the Lamb crown, which is served with fresh herbs and grilled green asparagus.

Asparagus, or the sparrow grass, has been used as a vegetable and medicine, owing to its delicate flavor, diuretic properties, and more. It is easily digestible, has a lot of vitamins, especially folic acid, iron, potassium, and fiber. In addition, it has few calories, almost no fat and helps draining. Therefore, it is suitable for different diets, particularly in the reduction.Typical taste and aroma of essential oils give asparagus – asparagine acid, which is important for protein metabolism, promotes kidney function, so pollutants are excluded from the body faster.
