Festival Maribor, in 2014 ranked by online portal Culture Trip among the 10 best European festivals, is these days providing its stellar programme to the domestic and international audiences who love music all the way from Baroque styles to post-modern transformations. The history of the festival spans for over a half century as it evolved from from Festival of Baroque Music and later Music September, an international chamber music festival, inheriting its high-level programming, outstanding performance standards and original organizational style. With the festival, the 2nd largest Slovenian city, Maribor, for almost 10 days becomes the European hub of classical music.

Acclaimed musicians from Slovenia as well as abroad annually perform in the selected programme that presents various ensembles, from chamber to orchestral ones. This year the festival’s programme is co-created by different musicians and international ensembles. Foreign celebrities represent the core of festival’s music creation. Regular features of the festival’s programme concept are also presentation and promotion of young Slovene artists, who benefit from working together with giants of classical music and gain a wonderful experience as well as new career references.

This year, the concerts are held between Tuesday, 10th of September and Thursday, 19th of September, at various concert halls around Maribor and smaller venues in the area filled with history and charm, such as the Fin de Siècle Union Hall acclaimed for its superb acoustics, Vetrinj Mansion, Knight’s Hall at the Regional Museum Maribor, Grand Hall and Kazina Hall at the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor and Narodni dom Maribor.
