Maribor’s winter festivities started already on the 22nd of November 2019 with the opening of the Winter Gathering Zimska Luftarca display. In the evening of the upcoming Friday, on the 29th of November 2019, a few events will start their festive, cheerful and magical walk through the last month of the year.

One of the events that start on Friday is the opening of the Festive Fair in Maribor centre’s Grajski Trg Square and Trg Svobode Square. The Festive Fair provides numerous stalls where local and foreign visitors alike can choose among full range of authentic, high-quality products of handicraft and art crafts as well as traditional cuisine. Any business or congress guest to Maribor in the month of December will be able to enjoy and try the products of diverse craftsmen, potters, beekeepers, honey makers, farmers, olive groves, herbalists, associations of farmers’ wives, and caterers.

On the same day, the City Ice Rink in Maribor will open! Set in Maribor’s old town centre, on the Trg Svobode Square, the ice rink will be 400 square meters in size and will operate every day until the 29th of February 2020. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays it will be open between 12:00 until 21:00, while on Fridays and Saturdays until 23:00h. By the Ice Rink there will be stalls with warm drinks and snacks.

Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia, oozes the historic charm of a relaxed medieval town. Its beauty additionally shines during the December festivities that span all the way from late November to the beginning of January. Any visitor to Maribor gets enchanted by the Styrian capital’s advent and New Year’s looks and programmes. This year, for example, there are 33 long-lasting events taking place through the whole month, up until the climax of the New Year’s Eve.
