GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre (GR) annually organises, executes and hosts Alpe-Adria Fair, the central and only Slovenian tourist fair promoting green and active tourism. Every year, more than 20,000 travelers, athletes, mountaineers, hikers, runners, cyclists, lovers of adrenaline sports in nature, and aficionados of camping and caravaning check a diverse exhibition of more than 300 tourism providers showcasing their ideas for green and active tourism in Slovenia and beyond. In 2020, the Alpe Adria Fair will take place in the GR’s halls between 29 January and 1 February 2020.
NOVELTIES IN 2020
As the novelty in the 30th edition in 2019 was a return of a special programme on camping and caravaning which was very well received, the GR will further expand the camping and caravaning set in 2020. Lovers of four-wheeled trips will not be able to only check motorhomes and caravans, but will be also able to check re-manufactured vans of established brands and their equipment. Additional novelty will be in the possibility to either buy or sell used motorhomes. Visitors will be aided in the purchase or sale by experienced partners of the Avto-dom Magazine.
In the 31st edition of the Alpe Adria Fair, between 29 January and 1 February 2020, another novelty will stand in the presentation of the new web portal Outdoor Slovenia. Outdoor Slovenia in one place presentes offers of hiking, biking, winter and water experriences, as well as fishing and golf. And for the first time, the Alpe Adria Fair will host the HOSPEO MASTER 2020; educational and business event which focusess on the challenge of lack of personnel in the hospitality industry and how to ensure quality in the hospitality industry.
FAIRS OF TASTES GASTexpo & Ice-cream
On the same days, Alpe Adria will be accommpanied by another fair that will take place in the halls of the GR – the 14th Fairs of Tastes GASTexpo & Ice-cream. Tastes GASTexpo & Ice-cream are international specialised fairs dictating trends in catering and hotel industry and are intended for foreign and local exhibitors, visitors, businessmen, experts, schools and others from the HORECA industry.
JUBILEE 10th JAKOB AWARD
The 31st Alpe Adria Fair will be accommpanied also by the 10th jubilee edition of the Jakob Award. Every year, the Jakob Award is presented for quality and excellence in tourism in the Alpe Addria region. International committee selects the best candidate who contributes a significant part into the mosaic on innovative endeavours in tourism industry in the Alps-Adriatic region. In 2020 the award will be presented for the 10th time and it will be granted for a realised touristic project related to the topic: “Innovative Tourist Content and Programs in Castles and Chateaus.” The award will be presented to The Posavje Castles.

Along the four-day fair held in GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre’s halls, exhibitors will be enabled to hold business meetings with travel organizers, tourist agencies, potential investors, representatives of interest groups, etc. Every day a programme full of interesting and entertaining events will accommpany the fair activities: round tables, presentations, travelogues for a wide audience, as well as conferences and discussions for the professional public.
