Prague Airport is thus one of the 20 European airports committed not only to reducing the carbon footprint from their operations, but also to involving their partners in the effort. These include, for example, airlines, handling and catering service providers, and land transport users.
Since 2009, Prague Airport has been involved in the ACA programme, which, under the auspices of Airports Council International (ACI), independently evaluates the world’s airports and acknowledges their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. This year, Prague Airport, has, again, secured its carbon footprint management certification Level 3 – Optimisation under the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme.
Achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 is a long-term goal of Prague Airport. Therefore, since 2012, it has implemented a number of cost-saving projects, including lighting replacements, installation of new boilers, optimisation of air conditioning unit operations, and more. Effective 2019, the airport covers 100 per cent of its own electricity consumption from renewable sources. Moreover, airport decarbonisation is one of the main pillars of the company’s ESG strategy.
