A JEWEL OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE
The imposing edifice housing the National and University Library in Zagreb is a jewel of modern architecture which occupies a central place in Croatia’s culture and science. As the largest and oldest library in Croatia, it stretches over 44,432 square metres, has more than 130 kilometres of shelves, around 3 million items and boasts over 46 digital collections.

The history of NSK, the National and University Library in Zagreb, Croatia’s largest library, spans more than four centuries. From its beginnings as the library of the Jesuit grammar school in the Upper Town of Zagreb to its current modern location and role, NSK has been systematically developing its collections and strengthening its position in Croatian society.
In addition to the vestibule area, the seminar hall and the computer classroom are also available for event organisers in the mezzanine as private, technically well-equipped rooms perfect for seminars, lectures, workshops and other events with limited access that require quiet and privacy. The capacity of the seminar hall is 100, while the computer classroom can take approximately 40 participants.
The Student Centre restaurant on the fifth floor of the building offers opportunities for cocktail parties, lunches and coffee breaks for all types of events. The professional restaurant team can provide food and drink that appeals to the most discriminating palate.
