During the Olympic Games held in Paris between 26 July and 11 August 2024, Ljubljana presented itself in the Slovenia House as a green capital with an exceptional natural and cultural heritage. Ljubljana’s high quality of life, excellent drinking water and the architectural legacy of Jože Plečnik were in the limelight. The Slovenian capital also presented its offer at the Slovenian tourism workshop prepared by the Slovenian Tourist Organization.

Ljubljana has been building its key goals for many years on the foundations of sustainable development, which were also at the forefront of the presentation in Paris. In the Slovenian House, visitors could stop in a green oasis representing the city’s high quality of life.

Quality drinking water

In addition to extensive public green spaces, Ljubljana also has high-quality drinking water, which locals and visitors can drink for free from 59 drinking fountains around the capital. To make visitors aware of the wealth and availability of natural resources in the Slovenian capital, the focus of the presentation was a special drinking fountain that works with the help of neurotechnology.

Plečnik’s masterpieces

The second part of the presentation of Ljubljana was based on the architectural legacy of Jože Plečnik. In 2021, a selection of his works was entered on the UNESCO Heritage List. Visitors could enter the master’s world through a virtual reality experience and see the architect’s realized and unrealized works. In the outdoor classroom, they could learn interesting facts about one of the most important architects of the 20th century and try their hand at recreating his masterpieces.

The mission of the Slovenian House was to present Slovenia as a dynamic, innovative and hospitable country that combines sporting achievements, cultural heritage, economic power and tourist attractions. On all days of the Olympic Games, it hosted gatherings with Slovenian medal winners and meetings of dignitaries and sports officials.
