NEED TO KNOW IN 2026

Opening in Summer 2026, Muzej Lah in Bled will bring the private Lah art collection—built over 30 years by Igor and Mojca Lah—into the public eye for the first time. Designed by David Chipperfield Architects, the new building harmonises with the Julian Alps and nearby medieval Bled Castle, reflecting regional heritage while embracing global art. The collection features post-WWII artists and contemporary voices, including Anne Imhof, Theaster Gates, and Hito Steyerl. More than a museum, Muzej Lah will act as a cultural hub, with a research centre, art library, multifunctional galleries, film screenings, concerts, a restaurant, and educational programmes—shaping Bled’s future not only as a natural escape but also as a centre for critical reflection and cultural creativity.

Did you know that one of the NHL’s greatest stars, Anže Kopitar, calls Bled his summer home? Born in nearby Jesenice, Kopitar is captain of the Los Angeles Kings and the first Slovenian to lift the Stanley Cup—not once, but twice. Every summer, he returns to Bled, where he has a residence with his family. He loves spending free time at the Royal Bled Golf Course and hosts an international ice hockey summer camp in Ice Hall Bled.

The parking lot also has six charging stations for electric vehicles. A new organised transfer connection, Radovljica Bus, was established during the summer, connecting Bled and Radovljica, as well as the camps in between, with the aim of reducing the number of vehicles on the road between Lesce and Bled. Car parking under Spa Park is no longer allowed. The spaces are now available for bicycles, motorbikes and vehicles for disabled people. New public toilets were opened in Mala Zaka (Rowing Centre).

TOURIST INFRASTRUCTURE

Several new restaurants have opened or undergone significant upgrades in 2025, e.g., Beestro Bled and Janko in Metka Pattiserie, and Old Cellar Bled in the former Panorama Restaurant. Bled Public Lido introduced a VIP ticket for bathers who want more privacy. The cycling road between Lesce and Bled was reconstructed. Destinations’ restaurants scored better at gastronomy awards such as Michelin, Gault Millau, and Flagstaff. Vila Bled renovated terraces during the wintertime. In addition, Ambient Resort Bled welcomes private events for small gatherings.

Blejska hiša opened two 300 m2 halls above the restaurant. Bled Congress Centre Festivalna dvorana underwent some changes to meet the standards of the Slovenian Green sustainable certificate (as the second congress centre in Slovenia). Also, Ice Hall Bled underwent renovations, including: the cooling system was completely renovated, new asphalt was laid in the surroundings and in the parking lots in front of the hall, grass areas were arranged with perennial plants, and the facade was renovated. The renovation also included the floors and surfaces for visitors in the hall, the stands, and the changing rooms, which were refreshed and renovated, and ventilation was installed. Hotel Kompas opened a hall devoted to Bled’s innovator, Florjančič.

MEETINGS BUZZ

Dr. Noah Chaney’s book Bledology: Everything you need to know about Bled Slovenia was published in Slovenia and as an e-book version.
