Four Points by Sheraton Ljubljana Mons has received the Green Key environmental certification, one of the leading international environmental labels in tourism. The certification confirms that the hotel meets rigorous environmental criteria and consistently integrates sustainable practices into its daily operations, employee work, and the guest experience.

Green Key is built on verifiable standards that cover responsible water and energy management, waste separation and reduction, the use of environmentally preferable products, and ongoing education for employees and guests. For the hotel, the certification is therefore not only recognition of its achievements to date, but also a commitment to continual improvement.

“Receiving the Green Key certification is an important acknowledgement that sustainability is not merely an individual project for us, but an integral part of our daily operations. As part of Marriott International, we also pursue our sustainability and social responsibility activities through the global Serve 360 programme. Green Key further reinforces this commitment and encourages us to continue introducing tangible and measurable improvements. Our unique location beside the forest serves as a particularly powerful reminder of our responsibility towards the natural environment. We are grateful to our associates, who put sustainable principles into practice every day, and to our guests, who support us in these efforts,” said Dragan Ćulibrk, General Manager of Four Points by Sheraton Ljubljana Mons.

Sustainability as part of the hotel experience

The hotel encourages guests to make considered choices throughout their stay, including reusing towels and bed linen, conserving water, switching off lights and air conditioning when leaving their rooms, separating waste and choosing more sustainable forms of transport. Its culinary offering also emphasises seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

The Green Key environmental certification complements the hotel’s broader commitment to sustainability. Four Points by Sheraton Ljubljana Mons is also the first hotel in Slovenia to obtain BREEAM In Use certification. The hotel generates part of its energy through its own solar power plant, operates its own heat pump and provides guests with numerous charging points for electric vehicles.

By obtaining Green Key certification, the hotel continues its development towards a model of responsible hospitality in which guest comfort, service quality and environmental stewardship complement one another.
