The UK government has outlined its roadmap to recovery – a step-by-step process to easing lockdown measures building back up to the return of live events.
The rollout of vaccines across London and the UK are taking place at increasingly rapid rates, with a target for all of the UK adult population to have been offered a vaccine by 31 July 2021, further increasing the likelihood of the above dates of easing restrictions being fulfilled. Key milestones for the events industry
From 12 April 2021:
• Most outdoor attractions can reopen.
• Outdoor hospitality, such as zoos and theme parks, can resume.
• Event pilots will start taking place to measure their success and ability to be COVID-secure.
From 17 May 2021:
• Indoor hospitality can resume.
• Indoor entertainment and attractions can reopen.
• Outdoor entertainment, including performances, can reopen.
• Accommodation, including hotels, can reopen.
• Indoor events of 1,000 people or 50% capacity (whichever is lower) can resume.
• Outdoor events of 4,000 people or 50% capacity (whichever is lower) can resume.
• Large seated outdoor events of 10,000 people or 25% capacity (whichever is lower) can resume.
• Domestic overnight stays allowed.
• International travel can resume (subject to review).
• Event pilots continue.
From 21 June 2021:
•Larger events allowed (subject to review).
•International travel allowed (subject to review).
Despite the outlined dates above, the easing of restrictions will be subject to data on rates of infection and other factors. They are therefore subject to change.
