Cankarjev dom – CD Cultural and Congress Centre Ljubljana is having a rich Autumn of congress and business events. Among scientific events, Cankarjev dom co-organised and hosted the 16th Congress of European Forum for Research in Rehabilitation (EFRR) in virtual form between 23 and 25 September. EFRR, the major multidisciplinary rehabilitation research forum in Europe advancing research and education in biopsychosocial aspects of rehabilitation holds the congress every two years.
In its 16th version, in co-organisation with the EFRR and the University Rehabilitation Republic of Slovenia, Cankarjev dom welcomed 210 participants from 26 countries. Among them were European countries, as well as Canada, Japan, India, Turkey, and Russian Federation. This year’s congress was focused around the main theme Innovating rehabilitation: building bridges between research, technology and practice?
The event was, as all previous EFRR congresses, multiprofessional, hosting researchers and clinicians who work in rehabilitation, with topics ranging from basic research to return to work and quality of life, including technological and clinical viewpoints. Besides plenary and invited lectures, the participants presented their work at various oral presentation and poster sessions.
Helena Burger, M.D, chair of the scientific committee of the congress commented: “Cankarjev dom’s congress team with Alenka Kregar at the wheel was more than excellent! Everything was running in professional manner, all deadlines were met, and the whole team was of world-class quality. Among other achievements, they managed to kindly and patiently teach 70 to 80 year old participants how to flawlessly follow the congress online.”
Participants’ feedbacks were positive and praising the organisation of the virtual, online congress. Some said that Cankarjev dom “created a very good atmosphere despite the meeting being held online.” Another pointed out the implementation of the congress: “It brought an authentic feeling as if we were really in Cankarjev dom’s congress hall. I think this was a great example on how to implement an international conference in a virtual way.”
