Only a handful of venues in Ljubljana offer a tropical backdrop for events. One of them is the University of Ljubljana Botanical Garden, founded in 1810. The Botanical Garden is the oldest Slovenian cultural, scientific and educational institution to have operated continuously since its establishment. The garden is home to more than 4,500 different species and subspecies. Around one third are Slovenian endemics, while the remainder originate from other parts of Europe and from other continents.
